Dorum-Neufeld (Germany) December 19, 2015, Light Painting World Alliance held next very special meeting and last dedicated event to celebrate International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies (IYoL) by UNESCO.
The preparation for this LPWA meeting was started 2 months before, as dedicated group on Facebook.
We asked to everyone who interested join us, and we collect 35 artists in just 2 weeks. While discussion on this dedicated group, we clarify some nice ideas for massive art collaboration, taking in mind that some cool ideas could be realized only by common efforts. Firstly, our location supervisor Jörg Miedza find this marvelous place – Oberveresand lighthouse. Jörg had negotiations with lighthouse owner, explained our goals and required settings for proper work. Fortunately, lighthouse administration liked our idea and they gave us unlimited possibilities for activity – all lights on bridge and inside lighthouse itself were switched off.
2nd, we were lucky with weather and complete low tide of Nord Sea. Also, we used 3D modeling software (to reconstruct the camera positioning) and took a few test shooting some days before (to clarify details for special 5 meters long light tool, which can do in separated steps a 20m IYoL-logo). And finally, 25 participants from 5 countries came in person! All images are clickable!

The idea #1 was to paint with light giant logotype of International Year of Light. Last year LPWA already yet shot IYoL logo as part of the 1st International Light Art Congress and 3rd worldwide light painting exhibition in Oviedo, Spain.
This time, we decided to use Nord Sea bottom as perfect background with ultimate reflections, also we planned to make new logo 3-Dimensional, because of nice point of view from lighthouse top desk (about 15 meters over water).

We follow this steps: 1) we fixed a point in the middle, 2) we build 10 meters dome with a pole while fixing a light at the end, 3) outside the dome, another 5 meters around the dome, we painted at first the sun-rays (each of them 5m long), 4) at the end the colors between the sun-rays like the flags on YIoL logo. Sure thing, some colors doesn’t match perfectly, perhaps it was by different angles of some “flags”, aligned to camera.

Our resulting image took 1300 seconds exposure!

The idea #2 was too interesting. We call it “People Bring the Light to Lighthouse” (or “Light Carriers”). Such image should explain how our community works: every artist with his personal light halo over head could unite his art activity with other artists – for making possible to flash “big lighthouse beam” of our incredible art form!

Here is another versions of "Light Carriers", taken from different cameras.

We made a lot of light painting images under very mixed conditions: someone put the light onto lighthouse, someone spin the steel whool, someone drive electric car along the bridge... and someone press release button on his (her) camera. Thus, in this wonderful night we aren't shure of clear artist's input for following images :) But we think those free creative working time was better time of last december!

Of course, we will remember not only our funny and driving collaboration, but also friendly restaurant party. I was overexcited talking with a lot of kind fellas light painters! That is why I was there, seriously :)
